Bio

Mr. Coppé is responsible for deal origination, financial and strategic analyses, due diligence, deal structuring and portfolio monitoring. He has been involved in the energy business since 1996, both in operations and finance. Mr. Coppé joined RBC Capital Partners in 2003, to focus on transaction analysis and deal execution for the RBC Energy Fund. Prior to joining RBC Capital Partners, Mr. Coppé was an investment-banking associate in the natural resources group of Goldman Sachs, which he joined in 2001. From 1996 through 1999, Mr. Coppé held various positions with Schlumberger Oilfield Services, in the Drilling and Measurements division. He began his oilfield career as a field engineer in the North Sea and moved on to become one of the youngest directional drillers in the industry. After participating in a number of horizontal drilling projects in Venezuela for Conoco and PdVSA, Mr. Coppé was promoted to project manager. While at Schlumberger, Mr. Coppé led the introduction of several new technologies, including coil tubing drilling in Japan, geo-steering in Latin America, nuclear measurements in Eastern Venezuela, as well as real-time transmission of drilling and geological data between the offshore well site and onshore home office. He speaks French, Spanish and Dutch fluently. He is currently a director of Vermilion, Probe Holdings, Inc., Torqued-Up Energy Services, Inc., Logan International Inc., Sherwood Energy, LLC and PolyFlow Holdings, LLC. Mr. Coppé holds a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Louvain, Belgium and an M.B.A. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management.
