David Koegler

Bio

Dave Koegler is a Principal and the Chief Financial Officer of Meakem Becker Venture Capital, serving in these positions since the firm’s inception in 2005. In addition to overseeing the finance and accounting of Meakem Becker, Dave plays a critical role in portfolio-company selection and due diligence, and advises portfolio companies on building their accounting, financial planning, and control environments. Dave brings over 15 years of finance, audit, tax, accounting, and entrepreneurial finance experience to the Meakem Becker team. Prior to the creation of Meakem Becker Venture Capital, Dave was Vice President of Finance and Administration for Meakem Venture Partners where he managed operational accounting, financial reporting, tax, financial planning and multiple due diligence efforts on actual and potential investments for the partnership. Dave has also been instrumental in recruiting finance and accounting staff for portfolio companies and in coaching those companies on finance, accounting, purchasing, and other related issues. Dave joined Meakem Venture Partners in 2004. Prior to joining Meakem Venture Partners and Meakem Becker, Mr. Koegler was Senior Manager in charge of all financial systems at FreeMarkets, where he reported to the CFO. Mr. Koegler joined FreeMarkets in 2000 as a Decision Support Manager, and was promoted to Senior Manager of Financial Systems Support in 2002. Prior to FreeMarkets, Mr. Koegler held a range of financial positions at various companies, including Coopers and Lybrand (where he earned his CPA designation), Medrad, Inc., Allegheny Health Education and Research Foundation, and Portola Packaging. Dave holds a B.A. degree from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, where he graduated with highest honors and received the Pennsylvania Institute of CPA’s Senior Award for Excellence in accounting studies. He earned his Certified Public Accountant license (CPA) in 1995, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute for Management Accountants.
