Bio

Mr. Covington joined NGP in 1997 and serves as a Managing Director of the NGP funds. He is a leading transaction specialist in the energy industry with over 20 years of experience. Mr. Covington oversees the structuring, negotiation and execution of the NGP investment process and assists in the monitoring of portfolio companies and the sourcing and evaluation of new investment opportunities. His knowledge and experience in structuring, negotiating and executing transactions and his ability to communicate this clearly to others provide a unique resource to NGP’s portfolio companies. Prior to joining NGP, Mr. Covington was a Senior Shareholder of the law firm of Thompson & Knight, where he practiced in the Corporate and Securities group in Dallas for nine years. He served as the primary outside legal counsel for NGP’s investments from 1989 through 1997. Mr. Covington received a B.B.A., magna cum laude, in 1980 and a Juris Doctor in 1983 from Southern Methodist University, where he was an editor of the Southwestern Law Journal and was elected to the Phi Delta Phi scholastic honorary society.
