Bio

Mr. Ashok Basu, Director first class first in Bachelor of Arts Exam (Honours in Economics) Presidency College, University of Calcutta in the year 1962. He was member of Administrative Service during the period 1965 – 2002. He pioneered reform, restructuring and modernization of India’s iron and steel industry and the electricity sector as Secretary, Ministry of Steel and Secretary, Minister of Power. He was also the Chairman of Central Electricity Regulatory Commission during 2002-2007, Chairman, South Asian Forum for Infrastructure Regulation, Advisor, Planning Commission of India and was on the Boards of several Central Public Sector Enterprises as Government Nominee Director.
