Working out of the Toronto office, Gerald provides clients with advice gleaned from more than 20 years as a professional chartered accountant, entrepreneur, venture fund investment manager, and corporate officer. He was involved in the audit of a number of public companies. He moved to Toronto in 1991 to become an investment manager for a venture capital firm investing in early stage technology companies, where he successfully invested and managed a portfolio of small technology based companies in information technology, biotechnology and life sciences and environmental technology. In 1994, he moved to one of Toronto's largest venture capital firms before striking out on his own as an independent corporate finance consultant. Among his accomplishments, he has helped his clients raise more than $25 million in funding, served as CFO for a Homebank Technologies Inc., a public internet technology company, acted as CFO for BioCatalyst Yorkton, a biotechnology incubator affiliated with Yorkton Securities, helped Helix BioPharma Corp., a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, raise funds and manage their investor relations program. He also helped a private engineering company successfully take over a public shell company to raise capital for its operations, as well as acting as CFO for Sona Innovations Inc. an emerging wireless software applications developer. He has served on the boards of a number of companies both private and public. He graduated in 1977 from McGill University in Montreal with a B. Sc. (Physiology). While working with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Dunwoody and Company, he earned his C.A. designation in 1982.
