Jeff Stein has 20 years of experience in private equity, executive management, finance, operations and turnaround consulting. His relationship with Parthenon Capital Partners began in 2002 as interim CFO for one of its portfolio companies. Later that year, Mr. Stein joined Parthenon as Executive in Residence focusing on business due diligence and other transaction initiatives for new and existing investments, including finance and accounting, capital structure and third-party debt financing. He has served as interim CFO for several of Parthenon’s portfolio companies and advises senior management teams post-transaction. Currently, Mr. Stein serves on the Board of Directors of Performant Financial Corporation. Before joining PCP, Mr. Stein was a Partner at Watermill Ventures, a Boston-based private buyout firm acquiring middle market companies in transition. He evaluated investment opportunities, raised third-party debt financing and managed finance and accounting, operations, business due diligence and other deal execution efforts for acquisitions and portfolio companies. Mr. Stein oversaw portfolio investments, developed and executed turnaround strategies and provided hands-on leadership to operating companies. He worked directly with executive management teams to establish strategic direction, improve overall performance and increase shareholder value. Mr. Stein spent nine years at Arthur Andersen LLP. He began his career in the Audit practice and was later recruited to Corporate Recovery Services, Andersen’s consulting group providing crisis and turnaround management, business strategy and other advisory services to underperforming companies. Mr. Stein advised private equity firms, boards of directors, senior management teams and creditor groups and managed companies through crisis, workout and balance sheet restructuring. While serving as interim CFO and COO, he led financial and operational turnarounds of middle market clients. Mr. Stein earned a B.S. from Boston College, Carroll School of Management and received his Certified Public Accountant accreditation in Massachusetts.
