John A. Flaherty is a Principal focused on infrastructure opportunities. He is based in Washington, DC. Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Flaherty was Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Transportation where he provided policy, program, operational and staff management for all operations at the Department. Prior to the USDOT, Mr. Flaherty served as staff director for U.S. Representative Norman Y. Mineta and U.S. Representative Anna G. Eshoo. In the private sector, Mr. Flaherty was a government affairs principal with clients in the transportation sector. He received a B.A. from Marquette University and his J.D. from the University of San Francisco.
