Bio

John O'Donnell is a Montana-based Partner for Montlake Capital. In addition to leading the Rocky Mountain regional investment origination process, John is also active in Montlake portfolio acceleration, marketing and fundraising activities. John serves on the boards of the Rocky Mountain Venture Capital Association, New West Media and the CM Russell Foundation. Prior to joining Montlake, John launched the Technology Venture Center at Montana State University. As the CEO, John created TechRanch, a nationally recognized incubator; the Bridger Private Capital Network, a highly active angel investor network in Montana, and the Big Sky/Jackson Hole Venture Capital Conference. Before moving to Montana, John spent thirteen years in Seattle. From 1987 to 1989, he worked for the investment banking firm Drexel Burnham. In 1989 John helped launch the non-food division of Anderson Chamberlain, Costco Wholesale's in-house brokerage, and for ten years he sourced products and programs for Costco. In 1999, John joined the senior management team of Onvia (NASDQ: ONVI), a large business to business internet site, where he helped raise $90 million in private capital and was a part of the company's $250 million IPO. John is the Trustee of a large Denver-based family trust, and as an active manager of managers John has a strong understanding of the Wealth Management industry. John graduated from the University of Colorado in 1986 with a B.S. in Economics.
