Bio

Rick Turner, a senior managing director of The Stephens Group, LLC, leads the investment initiatives of the private equity practice and is the senior executive responsible for the Houston, Texas office. He is known for partnering with entrepreneurs, business founders, managers and sponsor groups to develop and cultivate successful enterprises that value employees and customers while creating value for shareholders over the long term. Since 1983, he has served Stephens family interests as head of Corporate Accounting for SF Holding Corp. (the combined Stephens family’s holding company); assistant to the chairman, Jackson T. Stephens; and senior vice president of Special Investments for SF Holding Corp. He worked for the predecessor company to KPMG for three years prior to joining Stephens. He has led many investments on behalf of the combined Stephens families, primarily in areas of oil and gas exploration, natural gas gathering and processing, and power technology. Prominent achievements include the Red Cedar gas gathering pipeline investment in 1994; the investment in Energy Transfer Partners (ETP) and Energy Transfer Equity (ETE); the acquisition of a minority stake of North American Construction Group (NOA) in 2003; the acquisition of a minority stake of JV Industrial Companies in 2004; and the acquisition and subsequent sale of Quivira in 2005. He currently serves on the board of three publicly-held companies: Energy Transfer Partners, Energy Transfer Equity and North American Construction Group. He also serves on numerous private company boards, including JV Industrial; Spitzer Industries, Inc.; JEBCO and Seminole Energy Services, LLC. He previously served as a director of BTEC Turbines, LP. Mr. Turner earned his B.S.B.A. from the University of Arkansas and is a non-practicing CPA.
