Bio

Kim Sanchez Rael has over 19 years of entrepreneurial start-up, executive management, policy and venture investing experience. She focuses on investments in optics, energy, and water. She has particular strengths in growing product-based companies; improving management, operations, and financing; and building public-private partnerships. Kim is a member of the prestigious society of Kauffman Fellows. Kim currently serves on the board for MIOX Corp, Lingotek, and Tred Displays for Flywheel. Prior to Flywheel, Sanchez Rael was a co-founder and investor in Qynergy Corporation (an advanced materials/energy startup backed by In-Q-Tel) where she served as Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to Qynergy, she spent seven years in executive management at Intel Corporation where she oversaw finance, manufacturing, engineering, and operations and planning. Her duties included managing a capital budget of over $200 million and overseeing a $1B factory planning project. Kim also previously served as a legislative aid in the US Senate, where she focused on science and technology policy and foreign affairs. Kim formerly served on the New Mexico State Board of Finance and the Governor’s Water Infrastructure Investment Team. She was a co-founder of Social Venture Partners New Mexico, a philanthropy group. Kim received a BA from Harvard University and an MBA from Stanford.
