Lorenzo Barrera Jaime

Bio

Lorenzo is a Venture Partner at LEAP Global Partners, where he helps source and analyze investment opportunities in fintech, including credit technologies, payments technologies and B2B solutions. Lorenzo is an experienced investor and operator. He currently leads Grupo Financiero BASE’s (financial institution) strategy, new digital venture and tech team, helping accelerate the bank’s digital transformation of each core business unit. Lorenzo was previously part of the Investment Team at Alta Ventures Mexico Fund I (one of the first active VCs in Mexico). He participated in early ecosystem development activities, closing the of the Fund, sourcing and diligence of 17 investments, and adding value to 5 portfolio companies. He had the opportunity to move into one the first B2B sales position at one of the fund’s portfolio companies, and after a few years lead the sale of the company to a competitor as COO/interim CEO. Lorenzo began his career as a management consultant at SINTEC (a regional firm in LatAm) and participated in business strategy, distribution channels and GTM definition, general ops/process optimization and supply chain strategy projects for Fortune 500 companies in Mexico. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in Mechanical Engineering.
