Marc Friend

Bio

Mr. Friend is an experienced software investor, working with companies from startup through IPO and beyond. Past investments and board responsibilities include Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM), Check Point Software (NASDAQ: CHKP), NetDynamics, 3dfx Interactive, GetThere, Inc., Blue Martini Software, and MediaQ. He was also a founding investor in Acta Technology, where he worked with the technical founders from conception to over $25 million in revenue prior to acquisition by Business Objects. Mr. Friend started his venture capital career in 1988 at Charles River Ventures in Boston. Since 1994, he has served as a General Partner at USVP and Summit Partners, and as a Venture Partner at Partech International. Earlier in his career, Marc was Director of Product Marketing at Channel Computing, Product Manager at Microsoft and Member of the Technical Staff at The Aerospace Corporation. Mr. Friend holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
