Bio

Michael began his career in 1995 as a management associate in the office of the Chief Executive Officer of Centura Bank where he was active in mergers and acquisitions and strategic development projects for the bank. In 1997, he joined Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in New York as an analyst responsible for developing financial models for analyzing mergers and acquisitions, strategic restructurings and financing alternatives. In 1999, Michael joined the RBC Centura Bank Capital Markets division in Charlotte, N.C. where he served as a Director until 2002. At RBC Centura, he was responsible for sourcing and executing private equity and investment banking transactions for small and middle market companies in the Washington, DC to Atlanta corridor. During 2002, Michael served as the Field Coordinator for the Erskine Bowles for U.S. Senate campaign where he had primary responsibility for coordinating campaign activities in 48 counties in North Carolina. In 2003, he joined Triangle Capital Partners in Raleigh, NC, where he served as a Vice President until 2004. There he sourced, executed and managed investments for the $80 million fund focused on mezzanine investments in middle market companies in the Southeast. In 2004, he joined Endurance Capital where he was responsible for developing relationships for the $750 million fund focused on private equity investments in middle market banks. Michael is a founding partner and Principal of Plexus Capital. Michael is currently is a member of the UNC Board of Visitors, is Chairman of The Healing Place of Wake County, and is a board member of the Southern Regional Association of Small Business Investment Companies (SORASBIC). Michael holds a BSBA degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
