Bio

Rusty Dornin is the director of marketing and communications for Ulu Ventures. An award winning radio and television journalist, she was a CNN correspondent for nearly 18 years covering domestic and world news ranging from war to natural disasters and tales of crime and politics. Rusty is passionate about Ulu’s mission to increase diversity in the entrepreneurial and venture communities through quality decision making. She now uses her storytelling, marketing and video production skills to help highlight thought leadership for the Ulu Ventures’ team. Following her journalism career, Rusty joined the founding team of NewsCertified Exchange, with seed funding for the startup led by Ulu Ventures. She worked with Clint Korver and Miriam Rivera to create curriculum and produce videos for online courses in entrepreneurship and venture capital for Kauffman Fellows Academy. Rusty also founded RD Media Solutions, a media-training and video production company. Prior to joining Ulu, she was director of marketing and communications at Kauffman Fellows, a prestigious two-year fellowship program in venture capital. There she directed communications, marketing, video production, social media, media strategy, and helped Fellows with personal branding and thought leadership.
