Bio

Mr Grutman focuses his investment activity on the Financial Services and Business Services sectors. Before joining TH Lee Putnam Ventures, Mr Grutman served as the Managing Director of Citigroup’s Strategic Investment Group (SIG) that made private equity investments in the Financial Services Sector. At SIG he was responsible for overseeing 80 venture investments and sat on the boards of Invention Machine, Appintell Corporation, Keltic Financial and Saffron Hill Ventures. He also oversaw Citigroup Alternative Investments Private Equity Group that manages over $6B of private equity fundof-funds investments for Citigroup’s private clients. Prior to Citigroup, Mr Grutman was a founding member of GS Ventures, Goldman Sach’s financial services venture capital unit, as well as Frontline Capital Group which made private equity investments in outsourced business services companies. He began his career at The Boston Consulting Group where he was a Manager in BCG’s Financial Services and e-Commerce Practice Areas. Mr Grutman is a board member of ResMAE, CBA Commercial, NEW Customer Services (observer) and is actively involved with Velocity Express. Mr Grutman received an MBA from The Wharton School in 1995. In 1990 he was a Fullbright Scholar in Italy where he conducted independent research on Donte. Mr Grutman graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Humanities from Yale University in 1989.
