Seppo Mäkinen

Bio

Mr Mäkinen is a founding partner of Bio Fund Management Oy Ltd, and has served as a board member since the founding of the company. In addition to his service on the board, funding work and investor relations, he is in charge of finding investment targets in the fields of diagnostics and medical technology. He also serves on the boards of several of BioFund's portfolio companies. Mr Mäkinen has been President of Bio Fund Management A/S since its founding in December 2001 in Copenhagen. Prior to the founding of BioFund Mr Mäkinen served 10 years as director of the venture capital group Sitra where he started the life science VC operations, and before that in sales and marketing in Waters Chromatography Division of Millipore. He has a background in physical chemistry and long experience as chromatography specialist in research laboratory. Mr Mäkinen has worked as chairman of the board in, for instance, the following companies: Bio-Orbit Oy, Kone Instruments Oy, Rados Technology Oy, MAP Medical Technologies Oy, and Fluilogic Oy. He has or has had board membership or related positions in several medtech companies, including Merlin Diagnostika GmbH (Germany), Pharming Health Care B.V. (Netherlands), Primex Ingredients ASA (Norway), Exiqon A/S (Denmark), Egalet A/S (Denmark), KSH-Productor Oy (Finland), Wallac Oy (Finland), Bioporto A/S (Denmark), Millimed Inc (US)and SpinX Inc (US).
