Bio

Bill McPhee founded Mi3 Venture Partners in 1999 based on his insight that applying engineering to novel biology was a superior method to optimizing venture returns. Bill has particular expertise working with companies to develop their strategic vision, as well as negotiating and structuring complex financial and acquisition transactions. He represents Mi3 on the Boards of IMCOR Pharmaceuticals and VueSonix. Prior to founding Mi3, Bill spent over twenty years in operations and strategy consulting, starting with Bain and Company and later founding and building, two successful professional service organizations. Bill has worked with senior level management from a number of leading firms in the health care sector, including Warner-Lambert, the Indiana University School of Medicine, and several hospital and primary care organizations. Bill received his L.L.B. (equivalent to a JD) and B.Sc. (Hons. Physiological Psychology) from McGill University. He has been interviewed by Imaging Economics on venture capital issues, co-authored a peer reviewed article on "Activity Based Costing in Academic Radiology Practices" published in Radiology, and been invited to speak before a breast disease task force of the Institute of Medicine. Recently, Bill was invited by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (part of the NIH) to represent the venture capital industry on its Biomedical Entrepreneurial Science Working Group.
