Eric Hippeau is a partner at Lerer Ventures, a seed venture capital fund in New York City. Eric was the Chief Executive Officer of The Huffington Post until March, 2011 when the company was sold to AOL. He has served as a media industry CEO, having spent over 25 years in senior management positions at large media companies. He was early to recognize the trend toward online media and has been successful in numerous launches in the technology and internet field. Eric is currently a Special Partner and Advisor at SoftBank Capital. He has been involved in various capacities with the SOFTBANK Group since 1995. Eric joined Ziff-Davis in 1989 and became Chairman and CEO in 1993. In 1995, SoftBank acquired Ziff-Davis and he continued in the role of CEO until 2000, when the company was sold and he joined SoftBank Capital as a Managing Partner. Eric was President of SoftBank International Ventures, where he established SoftBank's international private equity funds and expanded them into Europe, Latin America and Asia. He was also SoftBank's board representative for its direct investments in industry leading companies such as Yahoo!, Geocities and CNET. Eric's experience prior to joining Ziff-Davis includes senior executive positions at International Data Group. Eric graduated from the Lyee Francais de Londres and attended the Sorbonne University in Paris.
