Since joining Blackstone in 1991, Mr Alderson Smith has worked on a number of Blackstone advisory projects, including the acquisition of Sanford C Bernstein by Alliance Capital Management; the sale of Banco Patrimônio to Chase Manhattan Bank; the establishment of a retirement services joint venture between the asset management divisions of Citigroup and State Street Corporation; the sale of Wells Fargo Nikko Investment to Barclays Bank; and the sale of Gartmore to National Westminster Bank. In addition, he has advised Ullico on a number of assignments, including capital raising and divestiture of non-core assets along with Willow Grove Bancorp on its acquisition of Chester Valley. He has also worked on a number of demutualization and conversion advisory assignments for the State Insurance Departments of New York, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Maryland, and Washington, including John Hancock, MetLife, Prudential, Provident, Principal, CareFirst Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Premera Blue Cross. Before joining Blackstone, Mr Alderson Smith was with First Boston in London and New York for eight years. A Master's Degree from Oxford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.Career
