Thomas Ng is a co-founder of GGV Capital and focuses on cross border transactions. He currently serves as a director on the board of HYB-Battery. He was a founding investor of Alibaba.com, SAVI Technologies (acquired by Lockheed Martin), Oculex Pharmaceuticals (acquired by Allergan), AAC (2018.HK) and Ku6.com (NASDAQ: KUTV). He was named the 10th top dealmaker on the Forbes Midas List in 2009. Thomas Ng was also recognized by Forbes China as the No.1 venture capitalist in 2006 and 2007. Previously, Thomas conducted basic research on fuels and chemicals at the Solar Energy Research Institute (NERL) and E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. He was the COO at Genelabs Technologies (acquired by Glaxo), and has numerous publications and patents worldwide. Thomas earned a B.Sc. in Bacteriology (highest Honor) in 1975, a M.Sc. in Bacteriology in 1977 and a Ph.D. in Bacteriology and Biochemistry (AO Fellow) in 1981 from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
