Veronica Wu is the Founder of Hone Capital, a venture firm launched in 2015 with initial backing provided by an overseas investment firm. Veronica led their international effort investing over $200M through a unique model that leverages machine learning and a distributed network of syndicate leads. Hone invests in a high volume of early stage and selective growth stage companies primarily in Silicon Valley via a unique distributed syndicate lead network of operator-angels, technical advisors and micro-fund managers. Today, Hone Capital manages over $300M of capital for its original backer as well as other institutional investors and invested in over 350 companies. Since it’s initial investing activities which started four years ago, Hone has already realized five unicorns from its early stage portfolio. From the growth portfolio, Hone has had the unique access to invest in rounds of companies such as Guardant Health which had a successful IPO in October 2018 and others such as Transferwise and Stripe. The fundamental goal for Hone is to in invest in a diversified portfolio in both early stage companies where there is already a high quality lead investor and selectively in later stage companies allowing it to deliver a strong and yet consistent return from venture. Veronica was elected to the Board of Directors of VF Corporation in March 2019. Prior to Hone Capital, Veronica served as Vice President of Tesla Motors overseeing its China Operations, and drove the launch of the company’s first car into China market in 2014. Prior to Tesla, Veronica led the launch of Apple’s Education and Enterprise business in China from 2006-2013, growing it from inception into a multi-billion dollar business. Previously, she held senior positions at Motorola and McKinsey & Company. Veronica holds a BS from Yale University in Applied Mathematics, and an MS & PhD in Industrial Engineering Operations Research from UC Berkeley.
