The Horizon Ventures partners have been helping entrepreneurs turn startup ventures into successful companies for over 30 years. We have worked with entrepreneurs with a vision that is both compelling and pragmatic and who appreciate our active involvement as much as equity financing. We believe differentiated technology provides the best platform from which to build a profitable and sustainable company. Horizon Ventures was founded in 1999 and manages $150 million in private capital in 3 separate funds. We have invested in institutional rounds with similar firms who will add value and are local to the company. Our portfolio companies usually have some institutional VC investment already and are either entering their market or generating revenue. Horizon Ventures has invested in 25 technology startups with an emphasis in the following areas: (i) Communications and Systems (ii) Semiconductors (iii) Healthcare IT (iv) Software Applications for Business. In February 2012, a syndicate of secondary investors purchased the interest of the Small Business Administration in Horizon Ventures Fund II, and as a result, we are no longer an SBIC subject to SBA regulations on investments. We are concentrated on completing the liquidity of our current portfolio in all three funds and are not making any new investments.Funding rounds
